Google Shifts & Replaces Google My Business
November 18, 2021Google is sunsetting Google My Business and replacing it with a new small business platform, Google Business Profiles.
With this new interface, you can manage your business information on Google and get more visibility on search engine results pages.
Let’s take a look at what’s changing, what’s staying the same, and how to start using your new Google Business Profile!
- The GMB dashboard & mobile app will be eliminated
- Your existing GMB content is still there, whew!
- Access to your Google Business Profile (GBP) is easier than ever, less clicks to get to your profile
Starting in early 2022, you will access your GBP directly in search or maps.
Why wait? You can experience the new GBP now! Simply enter your business name into your Google search bar while logged into the Google profile used to manage your business. All of your editing capabilities, review responses, and business insights are right there!
📱 No need to log into an app or a dashboard in the future, just start with Google. If you have an assistant or business partner that also manages your Google Business Profile, they can access it while logged into their Google profile*.
More to come as this rolls out. Watch for my new Guide to Google Business Profiles coming soon. I’ll keep you in the know with the intent to help your business stay on the competitive edge!
As a local Real Estate Agent, this interface is designed with you in mind! If you have any thoughts about this change and want to discuss it, you can find me on Google.
*If you would like to learn how to invite an admin or business partner to help manage your Google Business Profile, it’s best to invite them to be a manager or owner on the account. Here’s a quick tutorial on how to invite them instead of giving up your personal credentials to all things Google!
Wendy,
Good morning! Do you know how I can get my business address accepted on Google Business Pages? When I try to enter my John L Scott office I get the following error message.
“Duplicate location
This location is a duplicate of a location you don’t own or manage on Google. Remove your location or request to become the owner or manager of the existing location.”
Thanks in advance,
Mike
