Now is the time to double down on social media
March 31, 2020
Late last night Governor Newsom expanded shelter-in-place from the Bay Area to all of California which means another estimated 30-35 million home. More people at home means more people on social media for longer periods of time, which means more opportunity to engage and build relationships. Unfortunately, many on social media are spreading panic, posting without fact-checking and being down-right negative. It’s crucial in a time like this to not only fact-check, but try to avoid posting photos, articles and links that increase panic, and spread love and positivity.
Studies show that Italy and Spain have seen a 66% increase in streaming on Facebook, Twitch, YouTube and Mixer since the first week of February. As we are trending right behind, I have no doubt that our social media is up, and am seeing it personally. My organic engagement has more than tripled in the past week with likes, comments, story views and direct messages. Our private group for our title agents has 60 new members this week alone and my business page ‘likes’ are trending up for the first time in weeks.
So, what about the doubling-down? If you are running ads it’s never been a better time to double-down. Additionally, it’s never been a better time to engage, here are ways to increase engagement, build relationships, and authority:
- Video, Video, Video… If you’re still not doing video, NOW is the time
- Post more stories, engaging stories, with polls and questions, they are the best one-on-one conversation starters
- Stop trolling and start engaging, comment, like, and share you can create a friends list within your web-based Facebook platform to stay focused on top prospects and targets
- Take engagement and comments into private messages to deepen relationships
